Thoughts on Climate Change and Moringa Trees
My Thoughts Changed
My thoughts on climate change have always been that the climate has been always changing and wondered why all the big deal. And on the other hand, I’ve always been environmentally conscious, because God has made us stewards of this beautiful earth, and we need to look after it.
But recently, I’m having different thoughts about the climate. I learned that climate scientists have been deliberately intervening with the Earth’s climate system on a large scale. (Google climate engineering.)
It seems that it is debatable as to whether it is for our good or for our harm. I’d prefer that they left all this stuff to the Creator who made it.
God’s Rainbow Covenant
Genesis 9:12-17
(12) God said, “This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: (13) I set my rainbow in the cloud, and it will be a sign of a covenant between me and the earth. (14) When I bring a cloud over the earth, that the rainbow will be seen in the cloud, (15) I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh, and the waters will no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. (16) The rainbow will be in the cloud. I will look at it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.”
(17) God said to Noah, “This is the token of the covenant which I have established between me and all flesh that is on the earth.”
The King the Jews were looking for
Luke 1:26-38
You will call his name “Jesus”.
- He will be great;
- He will be called the Son of the Most High;
- He will be given the throne of his father, David;
- He will reign over the house of Jacob forever;
- There will be no end to his Kingdom. (v31b-33)
Children – a blessing from the Lord
Luke 1:24-25
“Thus has the Lord done to me in the days in which he looked at me, to take away my reproach among men.” (v.25)
Today I read about Elizabeth, Zechariah’s wife, who was in her old age and barren, and God told Zechariah that you was going to have a child.
After realising that she had conceived, she said: “Thus has the Lord done to me in the days in which he looked at me, to take away my reproach among men.” (Luke 1:25)
This reminded me how children are a blessing from the Lord.
Prepare a people prepared for the Lord
Luke 1:5-23
“He will go before him (the Messiah) in the spirit and power of Elijah, ‘to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,’ and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to prepare a people prepared for the Lord.” (v17)
I was reading today the first chapter of Luke’s gospel, and the story of Zaccariah, the father of John the Baptist.
While he was in the temple of the Lord an angel appeared to him, and told him that his wife, Elizabeth (an old woman), was going to have a child, and he was to call him John.
Here is part of what the angel said about John (and the part that struck me):
